Dear Parents,
As we head into the cooler months here in Huntsville, TX, we want to reassure
you of our commitment to your child’s health and well-being, especially regarding outdoor play.

At Tomorrow’s Promise, we recognize the many health benefits of fresh air and outdoor activity, even during winter. Research shows that being outside helps children develop strong immune systems, mental focus, and social skills. Importantly, while cold weather doesn’t directly cause illness, it can indirectly create conditions where viruses spread more easily—especially indoors. When we’re inside for long periods, close contact among children can increase the chance of catching viruses like the common cold and flu.
Why We Embrace Outdoor Play in Cooler Weather:
- Reduced Indoor Virus Spread: Outdoor play allows children to get exercise and enjoy fresh air, which can reduce the spread of germs often transmitted in enclosed spaces.
- Boosts Respiratory Health: Cooler, fresh air helps support respiratory health and reduces the drying effects of low indoor humidity.
- Enhances Physical and Emotional Well-Being: Children benefit from physical activity outdoors, which reduces fatigue, supports mental health, and provides a refreshing break from indoor settings.
Our Weather Policy We closely monitor temperatures to ensure children’s comfort and safety:
- At temperatures around 65°F, children can comfortably play outside. We ensure they’re dressed appropriately and monitor for any signs of discomfort.
- In Huntsville’s climate, we generally keep children indoors if the temperature drops below 40°F, especially if it’s windy or damp. We are always cautious about weather conditions and make decisions that prioritize their well-being.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s care. We’re happy to address any specific concerns you may have to ensure that your child has a safe, healthy, and enriching experience with us all year round.
